Joshua Kochath, C. Eng (Mech)

Marine transportation and cargo services are second nature to Joshua (Josh) Kochath who is President of Comage Container Lines, an international non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC), with headquarters in Toronto, Canada. Josh created Comage to provide clients with both international cargo services and worldwide trade connections.

His inspiration to enter the shipping industry was based on his experience as a marine surveyor where he witnessed avoidable damages, losses and costly errors in cargo handling and container shipments.

Josh’s knowledge and experience in the global world of transportation have served him and his clients well. Prior to setting up Comage, he established Sower International as a marine surveying and consulting company, with affiliate offices across Canada and worldwide.

Josh’s experience in the industry began with the Robert Lyon Group, a U.K. based company where he started as a marine surveyor and eventually became president, overseeing operations in Canada and the Middle East. He also formed a partnership to create Chancellor Lines which provided feeder and NVOCC services worldwide, through an agency network. After exploring North American business opportunities, Josh set up a branch office for Robert Lyon Canada and incorporated Sove International to handle distressed or salvaged cargo. That company expanded into an international commodity trading business for domestic and global clients.

Among his many professional associations, Josh belongs to the Canadian Board of Marine Underwriters, the Canadian Maritime Law Association and Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters. He also has a special interest in supporting local communities and volunteering his time to help the disadvantaged in Canada and abroad.
